Each classroom is made of a teaching team with a lead teacher and two teachers.  We have rotating assistant teachers who support each classroom and student workers further supplementing the staffing.

The teachers at Williams College Children’s Center are certified by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.  Teachers share their diverse backgrounds, experiences and education in many fields, including fine arts, biology, English literature, textiles, studio art, languages, psychology, and education as they contribute to the quality of the program.

The Children’s Center is committed to the ongoing professional development of teachers.  Once a month we have an early closure for staff meetings and professional development opportunities.  Each year we have five full-day development opportunities.  On these days’ teachers:

  • Meet as a full staff, in teams, and within infant/toddler, preschool, school age levels to plan curriculum and collaborations, prepare and review observations and documentation, plan for individual and classroom needs, and to carry forth new initiatives
  • Work together on the center, classroom and outdoor environments
  • Engage in a professional growth activity facilitated by directors, staff members, or outside consultants. We value learning together as a means to strengthen our program and our teaching teams.
